Barbara E. (Bothwell) Jackson, age 88 passed away on Monday, February 9, 2026, at Baystate Wing Hospital in Palmer after an illness. Barbara was born in Springfield on May 12, 1937, daughter of the late William Bothwell and Mary (Moore) Bothwell. Raised and educated in the Gilbertville section of Hardwick, she was a 1955 graduate of the former Hardwick High School. She has resided in Ware for 35 years and lived in West Brookfield prior for 35 years, both homes were built with love by her husband. Barbara received her Licensed Practical Nurse Certificate and was employed for many years at the former Belchertown State School and retired from the Monson State School. Barbara loved her walks, baking for others, swimming in the ocean and times spent with family at the beach in Rhode Island. Barbara's passion was hand quilting. She belonged to the Quilters Guild of Three Rivers. Barbara achieved Grand Prize Winner of the Creative Crafts Division at the Big E. In retirement Barbara enjoyed many camper adventures, including 2 cross country trips, and wintering in Florida. Barbara's children and grandsons were the "pride of her life". Anyone who called Barbara their friend, knew how her smile and sense of humor radiated around you. Barbara was the loving wife of William A. "Bill" Jackson for 70 1/2 years. During her declining health, Bill became her devoted caregiver and never gave up on her. Bill was her "high school sweetheart", and best friend. In addition to her loving and devoted husband Bill, Barbara leaves behind her daughters; Karen Fitzgerald and her husband, Paul, and Sherry Jackson and her wife Lois Nerek, and son Alan Jackson and his wife Roni. She also leaves behind her loving grandsons; John Fitzgerald and his partner, Stephanie, and Patrick Fitzgerald, along with many nieces and nephews, Sherry Hanks Witaszek & her husband Richard and the Mascoft family. Besides her parents, Barbara was predeceased by her siblings: William "Bill" Bothwell, Jr in 2008, Linda J. (Bothwell) Stolgitis in 2011 and Judith A. (Bothwell) Hyde in 2025. A Visitation Hour will be held from 10 am - 11 am in All Saints Church in Ware. A Funeral Mass will be offered at 11 am in All Saints Church in Ware. A Celebration of her Life will take place after the funeral mass. Burial will take place this spring in St. Aloysius Cemetery in Gilbertville.
