Carrol Dean Stickney, age 97 passed away on Thursday, December 12, 2024, at Baystate Wing Hospital in Palmer. Carrol was born in Exeter, New Hampshire on August 25, 1927, son of the late George Stickney and Violet (Currier) Stickney. He was raised and educated in New Hampshire, he enlisted in the United States Navy during World War II and received a Certificate of Discharge on September 28, 1945, from the U.S. Naval Hospital with the rank of Apprentice Seaman. Carrol enlisted in the United States Army on October 24, 1950, and was Honorably Discharged on October 23, 1952, with the rank of PFC. Carrol served with the 8055th MASH unit. He received the Korean Service Medal. Carrol was employed for many years as a welder for Heat Bath. He was predeceased by his wife, Rita E. (Stokes) Stickney. Carrol leaves behind his two sons, David A. Stickney and Brian T. Stickney, and his daughter, Dawn Oehler, 2 brothers, 3 sisters, 4 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A Military Chapel Service will be held on Monday, January 6, 2025, at 3 PM in the Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery in Agawam, 1390 Main St., Agawam, MA 01001.
