On December 12, 2021 we said goodbye to our loving daughter, sister, aunt, relative and friend, Concepcion (Conchita) Marie Wnek, 62, of 20 Malboeuf Rd in Ware, who passed away at Harrington Memorial Hospital in Southbridge, MA after a brief illness.
Conchita was born on March 4, 1959 to the late Thaddeus Frank and Concepcion Arana (Herrera) Wnek in Puerto de Santa Maria, Spain, while her father was stationed at Naval Station Rota with the U.S. Navy. In 1961 the family returned to Ware, MA., where Conchita spent her childhood. She was a member of St. Mary’s Parish and attended St. Mary’s School, where she graduated in 1973. She then went on to Ware High School and graduated as a member of the Class of 1977. While in school Conchita enjoyed sports, music, playing the guitar and spending time with her friends the Urbans. In 1982 Conchita decided to follow her father’s career goals and joined the U.S. Navy, where she served for sixteen years as an Aviation Electronics Technician before retiring with a disability suffered during non-combat activities. While in service her unit was activated to the Gulf War, where she took part in Operation Desert Storm.
Conchita will be sadly missed by all who knew her, or had the opportunity to meet her. The kindness and humor she extended towards others, could only be overshadowed by the generosity she shared with everyone she met. Conchita was predeceased by her father Thaddeus, brother Michael, nephew Brian and niece Abigail. She leaves behind her mother Concepcion Wnek of Ware, brothers John Wnek of South Yarmouth, Paul Wnek of Ware, and Dan & Amy Wnek of Holden, along with nieces and nephews Cameron, Michael and Ryan Wnek of South Yarmouth, Matthew, Isabella, and Olivia Wnek of Holden, and Bennet Wnek of Ware.
Services will be held at St. Mary’s Church, 59 South St. Ware, MA, on Saturday March 26 at 11:00 a.m., followed by a burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Donations may be made in lieu of flowers to the Fisher House, Inc. for disabled veterans and their families. Cebula Funeral Home-Ware was entrusted with the final arrangements.
