Edmund Ciejka Obituary

 Edmund J. Ciejka, age 95, passed away on Sunday, March 31st 2019 at Baystate Wing Hospital in Palmer.  He was born on January 19th 1924 in Ware, son of the late John S. and Antonnia (Salamonowicz) Ciejka.  Edmund was employed as a custodian at UMASS Amherst prior to retiring in 1991, previously he was employed at the former Ware Knitters, Inc. for 22 years.  He was a proud World War II, US Army veteran, enlisting on June 29, 1943 and served in the Asiatic Pacific Theater Campaign with the 1070th Engineer Port Repair Shipcrew and was awarded the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with Bronze Service Star. He was honorably discharged on February 14, 1946, with the rank of Technician Fifth Grade.  Edmund was a member of the American Legion Post 123 of Ware and the Ware Senior Center.  He was a member and communicant of All Saints Church in Ware.  Edmund was predeceased by his wife, Ruth A. (Stefanavich) Ciejka in 2003. A Graveside Service with Military Honors will be held on Saturday, April 6th 2019 at 11 AM in St. Mary's Cemetery, South St. Ware MA, in the Our Lady of La Salette Section. Fr. Piotr Calik of All Saints Parish will preside.  There are No Calling Hours.  Cebula Funeral Home of Ware has been entrusted with the final arrangements.
