The soul of Edward J. Vinskey, Jr., departed this world peacefully from his home on February 1, 2022, with family by his side. He was born in Rockaway Beach, Long Island, New York on May 2, 1945, to the late Edward J. Vinskey, Sr. and Mildred (Rodnick) Vinskey, but was a life-long resident of Hardwick. Ed graduated from the former Hardwick High School and Salem State College, later obtaining a Master's Degree in Education from Worcester State College. He taught in the Business Department at Ware High School for 33 years before retiring in 2002. He enjoyed classic cars, working on his land, traveling about and watching sports and performances of his grandchildren. A special gift every year was a Christmas ornament sled that he crafted and personalized for each grandchild.
Ed was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 55 years, Mary Ann (Podbelski). He leaves two sons: Jay and his wife Heather of Northampton and Jonathan and his wife Agnes of Murrieta, California, and five grandchildren: Marielle, Joshua, Justin, Alyssa and Jonathan. He also leaves a sister, Jean Klem of Hardwick and an aunt, Edna DiTaranto of Worcester. He was predeceased by a sister, Diane Gallagher.
Ed's family, friends and students will fondly remember him as a giant of a gentle man, with an understated presence and a wry sense of humor.
