Edwin Frank (Ed) Szczepanik, Sr., age 95, passed away peacefully at home the morning of Friday, February 10, 2023, in the love and comfort of his family. Ed was born in Ware on May 30, 1927. He was the son of the late Frank and Nellie (Misiaszek) Szczepanik. Ed was raised and educated in Warren, MA, graduating Warren High School Class of 1946. Ed attended Chicopee Auto Trade School and retired from Monsanto as a Lab Analyst. Ed also retired, after 34 years of service, from the Army National Guard as a Master Sargent. Ed was a life-long communicant of the Holy Cross Polish National Catholic Church of Ware. He served for many years as its Parish Committee Chairman. He loved to play cards with friends, watch the Red Sox, work on cars and take care of his yard. He enjoyed vacationing in Florida and Cape Cod, and recently returned from a trip to Hawaii. He enjoyed time together with his children, grandchildren, and great grand-daughter. Ed is survived by his wife, Dorothy (Gurski) of 69 years, his son, Ed Szczepanik, Jr. and his wife Christine, their daughter Amanda, his daughter, Darlene Lefevre and her husband Alan, their children Kyle and Nicholas his wife Kaitlyn, and their daughter Olivia. A Calling Hour will be held on Monday, February 13, 2023 from 9 - 10:30 am in the Cebula Funeral Home Chapel, 66 South St., Ware. A Requiem Mass will be offered at 11 am in the Holy Cross Polish National Catholic Church, Maple St., Ware. A Graveside Service with Prayers of Committal will follow in the Holy Cross Cemetery in Ware.
