Elena (Ramonas) Iverson

Ware- Elena Iverson, age 91, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, surrounded by her family and the love she gave so freely throughout her life. Elena was born on June 20, 1934, in Veliuona, Lithuania, to Joseph Ramonas, Sr. and Bronislava (Tamkus) Ramonas. In 1949, she emigrated to the United States with her family, beginning a new chapter marked by resilience, hard work, and hope. Over the years, Elena made her home in Ware, Southwick, and Sarasota, Florida, before returning to Ware to live at Cedarbrook Village. Elena was a gifted seamstress for many years, a skill that reflected her patience, creativity, and care for others. She later retired from the Massachusetts Turnpike Authority, where she worked as a long-time toll collector. Those who knew Elena will remember her warmth, her gentle humor, and the way she made everyone feel seen and welcome. Her kindness was constant and unwavering, and her presence brought light and joy wherever she went. Above all, Elena cherished her family. She is survived by her son, Anthony Simmoneau (Alice); her beloved grandchildren, Matthew Simmoneau (Taylor Serus), Jessica Monahan (Nicholas), and Andrew Simmoneau (Samantha); and her treasured great-grandchildren, Brantley Simmoneau, Olivia Monahan, Parker Monahan, and Amelia Monahan, who brought her immense pride and happiness. She is also survived by her last remaining sister, Virginia Newsome, along with many nieces, nephews, and dear friends who will miss her deeply. Elena was predeceased by her beloved husband, Einar F. “Ivey” Iverson, who passed away on January 29, 2001; her partner of 18 years, Walter Dembek, who passed away on December 21, 2025; her son, Paul R. Simmoneau, who passed away on January 15, 1996; and her siblings, Joseph Jr., John, Kestutis, Genevieve, Judy, and Ramona. A visitation will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2026, from 9:00 to 11:30 a.m. at Cebula Funeral Home, 66 South Street, Ware, MA. A prayer service with words and poems of remembrance will follow at 11:30 a.m. A Celebration of Life reception will be announced at the conclusion of the visitation and service. Elena’s legacy lives on in the love she gave, the family she cherished, and the countless lives she touched with her kindness.
