Francis J. Chrabascz Obituary

Francis “Stick” Chrabascz, 82, born in Ware, MA, April 15, 1939, lifelong resident, passed away peacefully at home, Saturday, September 25, 2021, after a short illness.  Stick was the son of Frank and Nancy (Kozik) Chrabascz.  He was predeceased by his wife of 54 years Reinnette, brother Robert, brother Walter Kozik and wife Mary, sister-in-law Pat Demers, and is survived by sister-in-law Ann, and brother-in-law and wife Donald and Elaine Demers.  He leaves two sons, Carl and wife Mary Alice, Steven and wife Cheryl, and five grandchildren, Alicia and husband Ryan Maguire, Andrew, Lauren, Ryan and Lindsey, and two great-grandchildren, Connor and Cole who will forever treasure their memories.  He also leaves his favorite family pet Buster and his pink ball.  Stick graduated from Ware High School in 1957, and was an outstanding baseball and basketball player.  He graduated from Providence College in 1961 where he played basketball.  He continued his education, earning masters degrees from Boston College and Westfield State College.  He taught math at Monson High School for 39 years, where he also coached the golf and basketball teams, retiring in 2000.  “Mr. C” was everyone’s favorite teacher.  Stick was a loving and devoted husband and family man.  He attended and enjoyed all of his sons and grandkids sporting events.  He was always there cheering them on.  Besides his daily trips to breakfast at the Cows, his second love was playing golf, playing his last 18-hole round just a few weeks ago.  He will be sorely missed by all his golf buddies.  The family would like to thank all the staff at Baystate Oncology for their tireless care and support.  In lieu of flowers, donations, on behalf of Stick, can be made to Caroline Starr Manning at Springfield 3 Oncology, 759 Chestnut Street, Springfield, MA 01119.  Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of Stick’s life at St. Mary’s Church located on 60 South Street in Ware on Saturday, October 23 at 11:00.
