George Chicoloff Obituary

George "Chick" James Chicoloff, passed away in the hands of the caring staff of Southbridge Rehab, on Thursday, January 17th 2019.  Chick was born in Southbridge, the only son of the late Helen (Vangel) Chicoloff and Dimitri "Jimmy" Chicoloff.  He attended elementary and high school in Southbridge. Chick was a three letter athlete while in high school, and was inducted into its Hall of Fame. Chick graduated from Southbridge High School in 1957 and went on to graduate from Peru College with a Bachelor's Degree in Education.  He became a dedicated fourth grade teacher for 29 years before retiring.  Chick met his future wife Penny while teaching.  Together they traveled the United States on motorcycle or by car 25 times, with one "always" stop - Las Vegas.  They also visited many of the Caribbean Islands, their favorite being Aruba.  Chick was quite an artist in his spare time.  He created many pictures with different shades of yarn, string & nails.  He also did embroidery and leather tooling.  George leaves behind his beloved wife of 28 years, Penny (Thomas) Chicoloff, several cousins, many friends, and countless former students, whose lives were shaped by his teaching style.  George "Chick" Chicoloff will be sadly missed, but lovingly remembered by his wife Penny, his family and friends.  Penny wishes to thank the caring staff of Southbridge Rehab for the loving care provided to Chick. A Funeral Service will be conducted at 2 PM on Friday, January 25th 2019 in the Cebula Funeral Home Chapel, 66 South Street, Ware. Fr. John Downie of St. Michael's Romanian Orthodox Church of Southbridge will officiate,  all are welcome to attend.  A Reception to Celebrate Chick's Life will take place immediatly following the service.  Chick will be laid to rest this spring in Quabbin Park Cemetery in Ware.
