Georgette Butler, age 91 passed away suddenly on Thursday, September 12, 2024, at Baystate Wing Hospital in Palmer. Georgette was born in Chateau Rieux, France on August 9, 1933. She was raised and educated in France, and she lived there during the German occupation of France during World War II. Georgette met and married a U.S. Serviceman stationed in France, his name was Jim Butler, Sr. Georgette and Jim lived and raised their family for many years wherever he was stationed, places like Ecuador, Haiti, Ireland, Germany and France, and finally moving back to the United States and settling in Columbus, New Jersey. Georgette was a resident of Cedarbrook Village in Ware since December of 2023. She was employed for many years as a phlebotomist for a hospital in New Jersey. Georgette was a huge collector of everything Lenox, from plates to figurines, she had it all. She loved to decorate her home, wherever it was. Georgette loved things; everything was special to her. She loved shopping, and her many dogs through the years. She loved to cook for her family, always preparing the French dishes she learned when she was young. Georgette was feisty till the end. She was predeceased by her beloved parents, her brother Gerard, and her beloved husband Jim Butler, Sr. Georgette leaves behind her son, Jim Butler Jr., and his wife Julie of Sturbridge, her grandsons, James Paul Butler and Aiden Patrick Butler, of Sturbridge, two daughters, Joan Butler Rudd and Patricia Butler both of Pasadena, California, and her sister Annette Morin in France. A Funeral Mass for Georgette was offered on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at 10 AM in St. Mary's Church, 57 South Street, Ware. Cremation took place in Springfield Cemetery and Crematory in Springfield. Georgette will be laid to rest next to her husband Jim on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at 11 AM in Assumption Cemetery in New Egypt, New Jersey. Funeral Arrangements in Massachusetts are under the direction of Cebula Funeral Home, 66 South St., Ware, Massachusetts 01082 and in New Jersey under the direction of Tilghman Funeral Home, 52 Main St., New Egypt, New Jersey, 08533 . Memorial Donations may be made to St. Jude's Childrens Research Hospital.
