John Stanley Lasek

John S. Lasek, 84, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 18, 2019, in Springfield surrounded by his loving family.  He was born on December 28, 1934, in Ware, Massachusetts to Genevieve (Tabak) Lasek and Stanley Lasek of Ware, Massachusetts.  He was pre-deceased by his sister Mary Ann Lasek Larson of Ware, Massachusetts.  John is survived in death by the love of his life and wife of 61 years, Barbara (Stec) Lasek, who he married on September 6, 1958; his children, Ann Morrissette (Marc) of Ware, Massachusetts, Deborah Reidy (Fran) of Land O Lakes, Florida, Lorrie Lasek of Halifax, Massachusetts; and 7 grandchildren.  After graduating from Ware High School in 1952, he attended business school in Springfield, Massachusetts before embarking on a career in business and finance.  Ware was always home base as John worked for several hospitals as comptroller during his professional life.  He began his career at Mary Lane Hospital in Ware, then Wing Memorial Hospital in Palmer, Doctor's Hospital in Worcester, Marlborough Hospital in Marlborough and Harrington Memorial Hospital in Sturbridge.  He transitioned out of the medical area for his final job when he joined the University of Massachusetts working in the Bursar's Office until he retired in 1996.  John was active in the community as he served as the ADA Coordinator for the Town of Ware and was an active member of the Massachusetts ADA Association.  He was a communicant and on the Parish Council at St. Mary's Church.  John was best known for his successful tax accounting business which he owned and operated for 61 years.  He provided taz fillings and financial guidance to his many clients for years through this business.  He will be greatly missed by all the people he served over the last six decades.  Calling Hours will be held on Friday, September 20, 2019 from 7 - 9 PM and Saturday, September 21, 2019 from 10:00 - 11:15 AM in the Cebula Funeral Home Chapel, 66 South Street, Ware, Massachusetts.  A Funeral Mass will be offered on Saturday, September 21, 2019 at 11:30 AM in St. Mary's Church, 60 South Street, Ware, Massachusetts.  Burial will take place in the St. Adalbert Section of St. Mary's Cemetery in Ware.  Memorial Donations may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA.org) or Shriner's Hospital Springfield (Shrinershospitalforchildren.org.)
