Joseph J. Ciejka, 87, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 27, 2019.
Joe was born in Ware, MA to Blanche (Szczygiel) and Joseph J. Ciejka, Jr. and was a lifelong resident of the town. He was a graduate of Ware High School and served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Upon his return, he ventured into the plumbing business and started Joseph J. Ciejka Plumbing & Heating in 1961, retiring in 1993. Joe was also a long term plumbing/gas inspector for the towns of Ware, Warren and West Brookfield up until his second retirement in 2016. He was a long serving member of the Ware Board of Health and a member of the Ware Lions Club and the White Eagle Society. Joe was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church and a member of the church’s Men’s Guild. He leaves his beloved wife of 63 years, Arlene (Dziel) Ciejka; three children, Joseph J. Ciejka IV, Gregory P. Ciejka and Jolene C. St. Onge and her husband Brian; his four adoring grandchildren, Evan Ciejka, Erin Ciejka, Brett St. Onge and Jocelyn St. Onge and his long time best friend and cousin, Mickey Bish.
Calling hours were held at the Cebula Funeral Home, 66 South Street in Ware on Sunday, June 2, 2019 from 4 – 6 PM. A Rite of Christian Burial was held on Monday, June 3, 2019 at 10AM in St. Mary’s Church. Everyone met directly in the church on Monday morning. Burial with Military Honors followed in the parish cemetery. Donations in Joe’s name may be made to St. Mary’s Parish, 60 South Street, Ware, MA 01082.
