Lucille Henrietta Witaszek age 103, passed away at her home on Tuesday, December 31, 2024. Lucille was born in Lenox, Massachusetts on May 7, 1921, daughter of the late Emile X. Voisin and Elizabeth (Pratt) Voisin. She enlisted in the United States Army Air Corps and served in the Army Nurse Corps from March 9, 1943, until January 27, 1946. Lucille was honorably discharged with the rank of First Lieutenant. She was very proud of her service to her country during World War II. It was during her service, that she met her late husband while fixing his wartime injuries, to as good as new. After the war she continued to serve her community as a Registered Nurse for both Mary Lane Hospital and Wing Memorial Hospital, where she brought her sense of unity. Lucille was a loving mother to five sons, day and night she raised them with strength, and a heart warm and full of light. Her grandchildren too, were her joy and delight. Kids and grandkids in her gardens took a bite, picking blueberries, carrots, and so much more. Her green thumb created a bounty galore. In her kitchen, she worked with such grace, whipping up meals, with a grin on her face. Her pierogies, the best in all of New England. It was a taste of her love, that was simply unending. Lucille sewed and knitted, each stitch full of care, creating quilts, mittens and gifts rare and fair. Her passion for family was her greatest guide, every hat, every scarf, was a piece of her pride. She knew what she wanted, and with strength and might, she made every dream a reality. Her faith was unwavering, it was a light to her soul, and guided her throughout her long life, and made her spirit whole. Lucille leaves behind her surviving sons: Joseph Witaszek, Jr. and his wife Susan, Richard Witaszek and his wife Sherry, and James Witaszek and his wife, Alice, and her daughters-in-law, Sharon Witaszek and Madeline Witaszek, and her sister Bertha White. She also leaves behind her loving grandchildren: Alicia, Katie, Jennifer, Kelli, Stacy, Bernard, Glenn, Mellisa, Aubree and Elise, and 11 great-grandchildren, all Lucille's Legacy of Love. Sadly, Lucille was predeceased by her beloved husband, Joseph "Lucky" Witaszek, Sr. and her sons, Charles Witaszek and William "Bill" Witaszek. Lucille's family takes comfort that with the love and devotion that she gave her husband during his life, that now is a rest with him above, her heart was his anchor, her soul full of love. She now watches from heaven with a smile and a prayer, her everlasting love will always be here. Rest in peace dear Lucille, your work is now done, your legacy lives on, in each daughter and son. In the quilts that still warm us, in the gardens that bloom, in the hearts that remember you, love is what fills the room.
