With heavy hearts, the family of Mark Andrew Benjamin announce his passing, July 28, 2024. Mark was
born in Greenfield on February 25, 1959, son of the late Edward Benjamin and Theodasia “Daisy”
(Supczak) Benjamin. He was raised and educated in Sunderland and was a life-long resident. Mark was a
1977 graduate of Smith Vocation School in Northampton. He worked alongside his father on the family
farm.
He leaves behind his sisters, Cindy Benjamin and Mary Ellen and her husband, Robert Ahearn, nephews
Jeffrey (Amanda) Hubbard and Joseph Hubbard, and a niece, Amy Hubbard. Mark also leaves behind
many cousins and friends.
Mark’s family wants to thank Care One of Northampton for their loving and compassionate care of Mark
during his final days. Also, a very heartfelt thanks to the Orange Community Health Center for the
excellent care they provided to Mark for many years.
A celebration of life for Mark will be held on September 21, 2024, at the family farm, 24 Russell Street,
Sunderland, MA. Per Mark’s wishes he wanted his memorial to take place after the harvest, in the most
peaceful southern field from the homestead under the family tree with Rev. Randy Calvo officiating.
Please dress very casually (farm attire) as the service will be out in the field at 3:00 PM. Mark also
requested that anyone who goes to the tree will need to be on a tractor, horse, motorcycle or in a truck.
Directions to the tree-head south on Russell Street, go past the farm and at the south end of the corn
field turn left onto the dirt path and follow out to the tree. If you need a ride out to the tree, meet in the
farmyard around 2:30 PM for a wagon ride out to “the Spot”.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Town of Sunderland American Flag
fund, 12 School Street, Sunderland, MA 01375 in honor of Mark’s love for his hometown.
Cebula Funeral Home of Ware assisted Mark’s family with final arrangements.
