The family of Martha Tombor has announced her passing away on October 9, 2024. Martha "Marty" was predeceased by her parents, Myron Wiggin and Myrtle (Scott) Wiggin, as well as her husband Theodore "Ted" Tombor. Marty was born in Augusta, Maine on February 2, 1936. She moved to South Portland, Maine during her senior year of high school and later attended school in Wisconsin, where she received her degree in X-Ray technology. Marty moved to Boston and worked at Massachusetts General Hospital. She met Ted Tombor during a visit to Ware, which was arranged by her cousin, who had asked Ted to give her a ride from Boston. Not long after, they married in 1966. They were blessed with a daughter, Susan, and a son, Andrew. Marty worked at Mary Lane Hospital for many years, enjoying a short commute across the street. She became well-known in the community for her work in the X-Ray Department. Many remember her kind care during their visits for broken bones or other injuries. She formed lifelong friendships with her colleagues there. In retirement, Marty and Ted enjoyed spending their time in Maine or Cape Cod during the off-season. Marty especially loved eating lobster and visiting the outlets in Kittery. They also cherished trips to Tanglewood to hear the Boston Symphony Orchestra. After Ted's passing in 2005, Marty remained active and enjoyed her time with her friends and family. She welcomed two grandchildren, Mason and Emerson. In 2020, Marty moved to Cedarbrook Village, just down the street from her former home. She enjoyed making new friends and reconnecting with old ones during her time there. Marty is survived by her daughter, Susan (Mark), and her son, Andrew (Amanda); her two grandsons, Mason and Emerson; and her sister-in-law, Sister (Mary) Philomena. The family extends their heartfelt thanks to Cedarbrook Village, especially her nurse Lena, as well as the staff who supported her at Baystate Wing, Harrington Hospital, Care One in Millbury, Ascend Hospice, and Cebula Funeral Home. A private service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Wounded Warrior Project (http\://woundedwarriorproject.org). Cebula Funeral Home is assisting Marty's family with the final arrangements.
