Matthew Boronski Obituary

Matthew J. "Matey" Boronski, age 89, passed away on Tuesday, April 9th 2019 at Quaboag Rehabilitation and Skilled Care Center in West Brookfield.  Matey was born on August 9th 1929, son of the late John and Mary (Lak) Boronski and was a life-long resident.  He enlisted in the United States Army on July 27th 1950 and served his country as a  decorated ( Korean Service Medal, 3 Bronze Stars and the Combat Infantry Badge) combat veteran of the Korean War.  He was discharged with the rank of Sergeant on January 30th 1952.  Matey was employed at Uniroyal Tire in Chicopee for 29 years before they closed.  He then went to work as a painter for the former Belchertown State School, prior to his retirement.  Matthew enjoyed fishing, it was his passion, whether it was on his boat at the Quabbin Reservoir or the Cape Cod Canal, he lived to fish.  Hiking the Quabbin was another passion, with his faithful dog Red at his side, he would pick wild mushrooms and apples.  Matey was a New England sports fan, watching the Patriots on Sunday's with his nephew Jimmy, and the Red Sox every season.  Matey is survived by his two sons:  Michael L. Boronski and his wife Sandra Marek, and John M. Boronski, grandson, Darin Boronski, two nephews:  Jimmy Lapierre and Ken Boronski,  a niece; Nancy Mulqueen, and a dear friend; Phyllis Hubbard. Sadly, he was the last of his siblings, and his beloved wife Dominica Rose "Mamie" Boronski predeceased him in 2009.  A Graveside Service with Military Honors will be held on Thursday, April 25, 2019 at 10 AM in St. Mary's Cemetery (Our Lady of Czestochowa Section) Ware.  There are no calling hours.  Cebula Funeral Home of Ware has been entrusted with the final arrangements.
