Maxine G. (Karhi) Jurczyk, age 77, passed away peacefully at UMASS Memorial Hospital in Worcester, on Saturday, May 11, 2019, with her loving family by her side after fighting a courageous battle with lung cancer. She was born in Ishpeming, Michigan, on December 1, 1941, daughter of the late Oscar and Celina (Lequia) Karhi, but resided in Ware since 1963. She graduated from Negaunee High School in Michigan in 1959 and Northern Michigan University in 1963. She taught at the Stanley M. Koziol Elementary School in Ware before retiring in 2003. She was a member of the N.E.A. and Ware Teacher's Association. She was a communicant of All Saints Church in Ware. Maxine is survived by her beloved husband of 56 years, Robert P. Jurczyk, two loving sons, Richard Jurczyk of Belchertown, and Ronald Jurczyk of Westfield and his wife Kelly, who Max thought of as her own daughter; her brother, David Karhi of Negaunee, Michigan, and three cherished grandchildren, Shaylyn, Hayley, and Owen, who were her source of pride, their happiness being Max's priority. A Funeral Mass was offered on Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at 10 AM in All Saints Church, 17 North St., Ware. Everyone met directly in the church on Wednesday morning. Burial followed the funeral mass, in St. William Cemetery, Ware. Calling Hours were held Tuesday, May 14, 2019 from 5 - 7 PM in the Cebula Funeral Home Chapel, 66 South St., Ware. Memorial donations may be made to All Saints Church, 17 North St., Ware, MA 01082, to be used for the stained glass window project.
