It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Michael David "Scubby/Mike Bass" Skowyra. He passed peacefully with some close friends by his side on Friday, September 26, 2025. Scubby was 73 years young. Mike graduated from Ware High School; he was a member of the Class of 69. His sport of choice in high school was football. After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the Massachusetts National Guard. He followed in his dad's "footsteps" by becoming a licensed electrician. Scubby spent his whole career at UMASS Amherst. Mike enjoyed gardening, camping, playing the slots, lottery tickets, fishing, snowmobiling and other outdoor activities. He was a daily reader of the Boston Globe, where he followed his favorite New England professional teams. Mike was a "Gold Card" member of the Weir River Social Club. Mike was predeceased by his loving parents, David S. Skowyra and Theresa Mae Rose (Charbonneau) Skowyra. He will be missed by his many friends who had the pleasure of sharing times in his life. Scubby will be laid to rest next to his parents on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at 11 am in Mount Carmel Cemetery, Ware. Funeral Service is under the direction of Cebula Funeral Home, Ware.
