Michael John "Mickey" Bish

Michael John "Mickey" Bish, age 87 passed away on Sunday, March 16, 2025, at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield after a brief illness.  Mickey was born in West Warren on August 1, 1937, the only son of the late Michael J. Bish and Mary (Szczygiel) Bish.  He was raised and educated in West Warren and was a graduate of Cathedral High School.  Mickey was a life-long resident of West Warren and a "fixture" in its community.  Always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need, whether it was family, friends or neighbors, he lived simply and humbly.  His faith was always for God, family and neighbor.  In his younger days, Mickey was a talented athlete, excelling in baseball, softball, basketball and bowling.  He was an avid sports fan and relished the accomplishments of all the New England Sports Teams.  Mickey enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served his country.  Returning home, he started his long career as a production manager for the William E. Wright Company of West Warren. Mickey was a faithful communicant of St. Stanislaus Bishop and Martyr Church in West Warren as well as a long-time member of St. Stan's Club of West Warren.  Mickey is survived by his cousin, John Bish and his wife Magi, along with their children, John Bish Jr. and his wife Amanda and Heather Bish, and their children, Eva, Weston, Beckham and Mikaela.  He also leaves behind several cousins in the Ciejka, St. Onge and Szczygiel families. Mickey will be deeply missed by his many friends, especially those of the Korzec and Sablak families.  Mickey was predeceased by his father, Michael in 1978, his mother, Mary in 1987 and his goddaughter Molly Bish in 2000, and many long-time friends and acquaintances from the West Warren neighborhood.  Calling Hours will take place on Sunday, March 23, 2025, from 4 - 6 pm in Cebula Funeral Home, 66 South St., Ware.  A Funeral Mass will be offered on Monday, March 24, 2025, at 10 AM in St. Mary's Church, 57 South St., Ware.  Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery in Ware.  Memorial Donations may be made to the Molly Bish Foundation, (mollybishfoundation@gmail.com)  Funeral Services are under the direction of Cebula Funeral Home, Ware.  For more information and an online guest book, please visit:  www.cebulafuneralhome.com .
