Michael Matthew Domey, Sr., age 82 passed away on Monday, July 14, 2025, at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield. Mike was born in the Three Rivers section of Palmer on December 29, 1942, son of the late John B. Domey and Elayne V. (Gumula) Domey. He was raised and educated in Three Rivers. Mike enlisted in the United States Army on January 27, 1961, and was Honorably Discharged with the rank of PFC on January 18, 1964. He was proud of his service to the country he loved, and the flag that represented it. Mike was a member of the Ware VFW Post 2577. He served as its Post Commander and was a member of its Honor Guard. He had a life-time commitment to the Boy Scouts of America and was recently honored with a Kente Cloth. Mike was a faithful Roman Catholic, a communicant of All Saints Church, and a member of the Ware Knights of Columbus and was involved with many of its committees. Mike was a former Grand Knight, District Deputy and a member of the Fourth Degree. He was named Knight of the year in 1974. He was employed for over 30 years by UMASS Amherst as a heavy equipment operator, for its construction service department. Mike enjoyed keeping busy with woodworking projects and spending time in Vermont at the cabin he built with his wife. He also enjoyed spending time with his family, building campfires, looking for wildlife, and spending time outdoors. Throughout his life, he enjoyed staying active in the community by coaching his son’s little league or helping with his grandchildren's extra-curricular activities. He was always helping his many friends and neighbors. Michael is survived by his loving wife, Gloria J. (Guimond) Domey. He also leaves behind his loving children: son, Michael Domey, Jr. and his wife Stephanie, as well as daughter, Lisa Jacques and her husband Francis, Jr., and Richard Starodoj whom he looked at as a second son. He will be fondly remembered by his grandchildren: Ayden, Courtney and Bethany Jacques, and Christopher and Robert Domey. Mike also leaves behind his siblings: John Domey and his partner Stephen, Mary Louise and her husband, Roland Thibault, Raymond Domey, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, John and Elayne, Mike was predeceased by his sister, Maureen Domey and brother, Ted Domey. Calling Hours will be held on Friday, July 25, 2025, from 5 - 7 pm in Cebula Funeral Home, 66 South Street, Ware. A Funeral Mass will be offered on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at 10 am in All Saints Church, 17 North St., Ware, MA. Mike will be laid to rest with Prayers of Committal and Military Honors following the mass in New St. William Cemetery in Ware. Funeral Services are under the direction of the Koziol Family of Cebula Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.
