Patricia Ouimette Obituary

Patricia L. Ouimette, 73, of Ware passed away on Sunday, December 3, 2023 after a long and courageous battle with an aggressive form of dementia and Alzheimer’s.  Through her love and inspiration for her family she was able to bring everyone together prior to her passing.  She was predeceased by her loving Husband Gerard Andre Ouimette of 41 years.  Not a day went by that she did not miss Gerry and the family is at peace knowing they are together again.

She was born on April 20, 1950 in Belfast, Maine to the late Fred McKeen Chaples and Hope (Chalmers) Chaples.  At an early age it was her dream to become a nurse and devote her life to helping others.  She was previously employed for the Monson and Belchertown State Schools as a nursing assistant then obtained her nursing license in 1982.  She continued the remainder of a 30 plus year career as a nurse for the Palmer House of Healthcare, helping those patients with dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.

Patricia was an avid traveler and was always looking for the next trip to go on.  She also loved her home state of Maine and would travel “back home” any chance that presented itself.  She will always be remembered for a truly caring Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Friend and someone that was always willing to help others.

She is predeceased by her Husband, Gerard Ouimette and her older sister, Susan Chaples.  Patricia is survived by her three children, Lisa M. Ouimette and Travis Nicoson of Ware, Derek A. Ouimette and his wife Sheila of Orrington, Maine and Brett A. Ouimette of Wales; her grandchildren Hunter Nicoson and his longtime girlfriend Ryley Newcomb, Brandon Ouimette and his wife Jordin, Jason Ouimette, Drew Ouimette, Sadie Ouimette, Quinn Ouimette and Penny Ouimette.

A celebration of life in remembrance of Patricia will be held at a later date in her hometown of Belfast Maine where Patricia’s remains will be scattered and her life celebrated by her family and friends.
