Pauline Gagnon Obituary

Pauline Sophie (Fijol) Gagnon, age 93, passed away suddenly on Thursday afternoon, February 25, 2021 at Harrington Memorial Hospital in Southbridge.  Pauline was born in Ware on June 1, 1927, daughter of the late John and Sophie (Magiera) Fijol of  West Warren.  She was raised and educated in West Warren and was a 1945 Graduate of the former Warren High School.  Pauline met and eventually  married the late Norman E. Gagnon in 1948 at the Holy Cross Polish National Catholic Church in Ware.  Norman was enlisted with the United States Army and was stationed all over the United States and in Austria.  Pauline was a true Army wife and with her children lived wherever Norman was stationed.  She developed a talent for hand sewing at this time, and made many intricate hand sewn articles. In 1966 She and Norman moved back to West Warren, where they would reside together until his passing away in 1987.  Pauline was employed by her brother for many years as a bookkeeper/ secretary for his business,  Robert J. Fijol, Inc. She was a faithful communicant of the Holy Cross Polish National Catholic Church in Ware.  Pauline loved her church and dedicated her time in retirement to making Pierogi's for their food sales.  Pauline also loved to play BINGO at the West Warren Senior Center when she was able to.  Pauline leaves behind those who loved and cared for her.  She leaves her daughters, Suzanne Paris of South  Hadley, and Kristine Booden of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, her son, Roger Gagnon and his wife Cheryl of Warren, her grandchildren:  Jessica Mohedano-Saenz, Aaron Mohedano, Joshua Gagnon, Ashley Gagnon, Amanda Renaud and Rachel Booden.  Pauline also leaves behind her great-grandchildren:  Arianna, Hunter, Taygan, Zendaya, Mason, Ella and Rylee. She also leaves behind her long-time companion, Ken Bombria and his family, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Pauline also leaves an extended family of sisters and brothers-in-laws:  Lois Fijol, Lois Swenson, Gloria and Tony Bates, Patricia Aldridge, Shirley Johnson, Virginia McEwen and Karl Korswig.  Pauline was pre-deceased by her loving brother, Robert J. Fijol in 2013 and her loving sister, Catherine H. Mack in 2009 and deceased sisters and brother-in-laws:  Marilyn Freyman, Richard and Irene Gagnon, Wilfred and Mary Gagnon, Elizabeth "Betty" Korswig, Ronald Aldridge, Paul McEwen, Robert Johnson and Sid Swenson.  A Requiem Mass will be offered for Pauline on Wednesday, March 3, 2021 at 10 AM in the Holy Cross Polish National Catholic Church, 61 Maple Street, Ware.  Everyone will meet directly at the church on Wednesday.  Masks or face coverings must be worn during the services along with social distancing guidelines due to COVID-19.  Burial will follow in the Holy Cross Cemetery in Ware.  There are no calling hours.  Cebula Funeral Home of Ware is assisting Pauline's family with the final arrangements.  For more information and online guest book, please visit:  www.cebulafuneralhome.com .
