Richard Alan Patch, age 82, passed away on Saturday, September 17, 2022 at his home. Richard was born in Elgin, Illinois on September 1, 1940, son of the late Warren Patch and Frances (Tetens) Patch. Richard was raised in Illinois, and lived most of his life in Gilbertville, Massachusetts before moving to Ocala, Florida after the death of his wife. He has been a resident of Athol for the past three years. Richard was employed as a superintendent for the former Hersey Products Foundry for many years prior to his retirement. Richard enlisted in the United States Navy on June 24, 1958 and honorably served his country until he was discharged on August 4, 1961 with the rank of BT3 (Boiler Technician Petty Officer 3rd Class). Richard is survived by his children; sons: Alan Patch and his wife Polly, and James Patch and his wife, Cindy; daughters: Sherry Patch and Joyce Lam-Bryant and her husband, Jason. He also leaves his grandchildren: Ricky Patch, Keith Patch, Justin Sykes, Ashleigh Sykes, Kassandra Patch, Sabrina Patch, Adam Lam. Lacey Lam and Stevie Patch, and great-grandchildren: Emma Lam, Lily Lam, Sophie Marshal and Devon Day. Richard leaves behind his brother, Wayne Patch and his sisters; Patricia Capron and Kaye Thresher. Sadly, Richard was predeceased by his wife, Elaine J. (Allen) Patch in 2002 and his son, Stephen Patch in 2014. A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, September 24, 2022 at 12 Noon in Aspen Grove Cemetery in Ware. Everyone will meet directly at the grave site on Saturday morning. A Military Service with Naval Honors will be conducted. There are no calling hours.
