Richard Rucki Obituary

The family of Richard Stefan Rucki, announces with great sadness his peaceful passing on May 27, 2026, at the age of 85, surrounded by his loving family. Born on January 2, 1941 in Ware, Massachusetts, Richard was the first-born son of the late Stefan and Julia (Lak) Rucki.  He graduated from Hardwick High School with the Class of 1958, then proudly served his country in the Ware National Guard and later with the Westfield Air National Guard as an Air Policeman.  Richard dedicated 38 years of service to Warren Pumps before his retirement.  Afterwards, he continued to serve his community part-time, working at CAP and NAPA.  In 1961, Richard met the love of his life, Rachel Briere.  The two married in 1964 and shared nearly 43 wonderful years together until Rachel's passing in 2007.  Together, they built a life centered around family, friendship and community.  Throughout his life, Richard was deeply invested in his community, involving himself in many organizations, including the Lions Club, the Knights of Columbus, the American Legion, AMVETS, and the Soldiers' Home.  In honor of his beloved wife, Richard was especially proud to have established the Rachel Rucki Memorial Golf Tournament.  A devoted sports fan, Richard could always be found cheering on his favorite Boston teams; the Red Sox, Patriots, and Celtics.  He also enjoyed bowling, golfing and playing cards.  He treasured time spent with his wife, his family and his friends.  He will be remembered for his kindness, loyalty, humor and generous spirit.  Richard is survived by his daughter, Donna Lynn Rucki; his grandsons, Benjamin Richard Clifford and his wife, Megan Rogalski, and Alexander Herve Clifford and his partner, Mickey Barron; his brothers, Francis Rucki, Ron Rucki, Robert Rucki and his wife Donna, and Len Rucki and his wife Valerie; and his great-nephew Danny Rucki.  He also leaves behind countless nieces and nephews and dear friends.  He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Rachel (Briere) Rucki; his brother, Stephen Rucki and sisters, Christine Rucki and Irene Podbelski.  Richard's family would like to thank all those who offered love, support and friendship throughout his life.  He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.  A Funeral Mass will be offered on Thursday, June 4, 2026, at 10 AM in All Saints Church, Ware.
