In the early morning hours of Saturday, June 6, 2020, after a long illness, Richard David Skowyra, age 63, passed away in his home. Rick was born in Ware on May 20, 1957, son of the late Henry J. Skowyra, Sr. and Helen F. (Mertzic) Skowyra. He was raised and educated in Gilbertville, and was a 1975 graduate of Quabbin Regional High School in Barre. Rick was employed as a Union Painter for Worcester State University for many years, prior to that he was employed as a baker for J.J. Nissan Company in Worcester. He loved the outdoors, and fishing, was A Number1 in his world. Rick leaves behind his brothers; Henry J. Skowyra, Jr. and his wife Patricia of New Braintree, James Skowyra and his wife Kathy of Felton, Delaware, Ronald Skowyra and his wife Martha of Oakham, and Robert Skowyra and his wife JoAnn of Belmont, NH. He also leaves behind his friend and care giver, Teddy Swistak, and many nieces and nephews. Rick will be laid to rest next to his parents in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Barre, at a future date.
