Richard Zebrowski Obituary

Richard Stanley Zebrowski, age 70, passed away peacefully, on Friday, September 18, 2020 at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield.  Richard was born in Ware on February 21, 1950, a son of the late Stanley and Fleurette (Demers) Zebrowski.  He was raised and educated in Ware, and was a graduate of Ware High School in 1968.  Richard enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on January 7, 1969 and served his country in Vietnam.  He was received an Honorable Discharge from the Marine Corps on May 23, 1971 with the rank of Corporal.  Richard received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 1 star, the Vietnam Campaign Medal with device, and the RVN Cross of Gallantry with palm & frame. He enlisted with the Massachusetts Army National Guard on May 24, 1971 and was discharged on , November 24, 1977 with the rank of Second Lieutenant Infantry.  Richard enlisted in the United States Army on November 25, 1977 and was discharged on November 1, 1992 with the rank of Major. He received a Master of Science: Criminal Justice with a Minor in Education and Psychology from American International College in Springfield, a Bachelor of Science:  Criminal Justice with a Minor in Education and Psychology from Westfield State College, a Associate of Science:  Law Enforcement from Holyoke Community College, Command and General Staff College, (Honor Graduate) Department of the Army, and Military Officer Commission, from the Massachusetts Military Academy.  Richard completed his Doctorate of Education at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.  Richard served as a Commissioner for Hampshire County, on the Board of Commissioners for Hampshire County Government. He was the Director of Veterans Services for the Town of Ware for many years.  Richard was employed for Metropolitan State Police as a Lieutenant (Training, Education and Accreditation Department in Boston from 1988-1991, Metropolitan State Police Lieutenant (Patrol) 1987-1988, Metropolitan Police Sergeant 1983-1987, and as a Metropolitan State Police/Ware Police Department Patrolman 1972 - 1983. Richard was a Nuclear, Biological and Chemical General Staff Officer for the Army Reserve Command at Hanscom Air Force Base, in Lexington, MA.  He was a long-time member of the Eden Lodge of Masons, the Ware Lions Club, the Ware VFW, and the American Legion Post 123 of Ware, in which he was the Commander of in 2012-2013.  Richard was a member of All Saints Church in Ware.  Richard leaves behind his loving and devoted wife of 19 years, Marilouise (Lumictin) Zebrowski, his children, Luigi and Riche Marie Zebrowski, his brother, Ronald Zebrowski and sister, Laurette Pratt and her husband Ken.  He also leaves his nephews and niece.  A Funeral Mass will be offered for Richard on Saturday, October 3, 2020 at 12 Noon in All Saints Church, 17 North Street, Ware, everyone will meet directly at the church.  Military Honors will follow the funeral mass in the Cebula Funeral Home Garden.  Calling Hours will be held on Friday, October 2, 2020 from 3 - 7 PM in the Cebula Funeral Home Chapel, 66 South Street, Ware.
