Robert D. Sanderson

Gilbertville - Robert D. Sanderson passed away at home on August 15, 2022.
He was born in Ware, Mass., son of Guy and Ethel (Bates) Sanderson.
Bob is survived by his wife of 31 years, Gina, daughter Kimberly Sanderson and husband Steve Fritscher, son Ryan D. & Jadrienne Sanderson, Russell L. and Danielle Sanderson, Eric A. and Courtney Sanderson, Derek R-P and Tara Davies, and Laura B. and Ryan Dennis. He leaves twelve grandchildren, Brandon, Audrey, Brielle, Sylvie, Chloe, Jeorgia, Wesley, Brilee, Brady, Lola, Declan, and Lucy. Bob’s greatest joy in life was his family. He also was passionate about music. Bob was a self-taught musician and begun his playing career at age fifteen on the drums. After many years, he took up the bass guitar. He enjoyed playing with polka, rock, and country bands until the age of 65. He also enjoyed Friday night fires, music in “the barroom” and long rides on his Harley. Bob leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, service, and patriotism.
Bob graduated from Hardwick High School and soon after, enlisted in the United States Air Force. Bob loved law enforcement and served on both Hardwick and Ware Police departments and then accepted an offer for a court officer position for the Massachusetts Trial Court.
Upon retirement, he built stone walls in and around the Hardwick-Barre area.
Calling hours are Sunday, August 21, 2022, at Cebula Funeral Home in Ware from 3 to 7 PM. A Liturgy of Christian Burial is on Monday, August 22, 2022, at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Ware at 10 AM. Burial will follow in Quabbin Park Cemetery in Ware.
