Sandra J. Piechota of Ware, MA, beloved wife of Mathew, passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on Wednesday night, July 24, 2024. She was born in Ware, MA, on July 9, 1936, daughter of the late John E. and Sophie I. (Kozik) Pzedpelski. She was a graduate of Ware High School and Northampton Commercial College. She worked as an Executive Secretary for the Springfield Fire and Marine Insurance Company, Springfield Monarch Insurance Company, Schine Inn, and lastly for the Ware Public Schools for 30 years. Sandra was a member and past president of the Social Science Club of Ware. She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church, served on the Parish Council, was a long-time volunteer in the kitchen and on the grounds for the St. Mary’s Carnival. She was a member of the Council on Aging, serving as its chairperson, and was a member of the Senior Center Building Committee. She was an avid candle pin bowler for many years (154, her highest game highlight) and her hobbies were sewing, knitting, quilting and participating in craft fairs. Sandra was a member of the American Cribbage Congress along with her husband with whom they traveled the New England States, Reno, Nevada and Raleigh, NC to play in tournaments. Besides her beloved husband of 67 years, she is survived by her son, James Piechota of San Francisco, CA and her two beloved grandsons, Kyle and Brett Emerson and her daughter, Patricia & husband Bob Emerson of Fort Myers, FL. Visiting hours will be from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Sunday, July 28 at the Cebula Funeral Home, 66 South Street, Ware. The Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary’s Church on Monday, July 29, at 10AM. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Parish Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Disease Research, 22512 Gateway Center Dr., PO Box 1950, Clarksburg, MD 20871-1950.
