Stephania Ann (Smigiel) Couture

Stephania Ann (Smigiel) Couture, age 93 passed away peacefully on Monday, January 26, 2026, at Quaboag Rehabilitation and Skilled Care Center in West Brookfield.  Stephania was born in Belchertown, Massachusetts on December 9, 1932, daughter of the late Franciszek and Anna Smigiel.  She grew up in a loving home where she was taught the values of faith and hard work.  She was a loving mother and grandmother. Stef and Paul built a home in Ware in the late 1950's and resided there since.  A loving homemaker for her late husband and children, she loved flea markets, cats and trips to the Casino.  She was employed for many years at the William E. Wright Company in West Warren, prior to her retirement.  Stephania was the loving wife of the late Paul Edward Couture.  She leaves behind her two sons:  Edward Couture and Richard Couture, grandchildren:  Michael Couture, David Ladue and Christopher Sinclair, and great-granddaughter, Sierra.  Stephania knew the pain of loss, losing her husband Paul in 1998, her daughter, Linda in 2017 and her grandson, Timothy in 2011, as well as her siblings.  Stephania was the ever-present rock of her family.  She will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her.  Take comfort in the knowledge that Stephania has returned to God who created her, loved her, and sustained her throughout her long life, and in whom arms she now rests.  The family would like to thank Quaboag Rehabilitation and Skilled Care Center for their care they extended to Stef, over the last few years.  A Gathering of Family and Friends will take place on Saturday, January 31, 2026, from 10am - 11am in All Saints Church, Ware.  A Funeral Mass will be offered at 11am in All Saints Church, Ware.  Burial will follow at 12 noon in Mount Carmel Cemetery in Ware.  Funeral Arrangements and Service is under the direction of Cebula Funeral Home of Ware.  For more information and an online guest book, please visit:  www.cebulafuneralhome.com
