Stephen Messier Obituary

Stephen Michael Messier

Born on May 7th, 1964 at Mary Lane Hospital,  Stephen was a life long resident of Ware.  He graduated from Ware High School and finished his senior year as co-captain of the football team.  Stephen was a member of the Aspen Street Rod and Gun Club, and also the Knights of Columbus.

Stephen was the go-to man of our family.  You could always count on him to be there when something needed to be fixed, or work needed to be done, whether he was asked to help or not.  He took care of us all with no questions asked.

At home,  Stephen developed a passion for cooking and was always excited to use his smoker to make amazing meals for the family. A ‘Top of the Hill B-B-Q’ sign hung on his pavilion in his backyard where he spent numerous hours learning how to create new dishes.  His family and friends always had an open invitation to join him for dinner and he was known to bring the best food to any party we had.

Besides cooking,  Stephen loved hunting, fishing, and boating on the Quabbin.  He was an avid gardener and claimed to make “the best asparagus you ever had”.  Stephen also loved watching sports on the weekends with his dad, and best friend Larry.  But above all, Stephen loved spending as much time as he could with his grandsons, Gabriel and Noah, and giving them rides on his tractors,  flying drones, driving RC race cars with them, and just being the best grandfather he could be.  This is where he truly shined.

Stephen was great with his hands and had a career in small engine repair.  He spent many years working for Lloyd Biggs, TK Biggs and most recently, Quaboag Equipment.

Stephen is predeceased by his granddaughter Nevaeh Lord, and his niece Kayleigh Roach.  He leaves his loving wife Theresa, daughter Tia, and grandchildren Gabriel and Noah.  He also leaves his parents Jean and Bob Messier, sisters Monique Messier and Kim Roach and her husband David, as well as his nieces and nephews Kelsey & Jonah Roach, Connor & Chloe Moody, Eli LaBier and Schayleigh Young.

The family would like to give a very special thank you from the bottom of our hearts to the first responders from the Brookfield towns and Sturbridge who worked so hard to save him.
