Victoria Mega Obituary

Victoria M. "Vicky" (Rusiecki) Mega, age 101, passed away on Monday, June 17, 2019 at Quaboag Rehabilitation and Skilled Care Center in West Brookfield, after a long and full life.  She and her husband, John Mega, who predeceased her in 1984, lived throughout their marriage at 110 South St., Ware residence.  Victoria's parents were the late Walter and Mary Rusiecki of Ware.  Besides her parents, Victoria was pre-deceased by her extended family including her sister, Veronica and husband Peter Rzeznikiewicz (former Ware Town Clerk & Treasurer), sister, Monica and husband Casimer Skibinski, (Monica & Veronica operated Vee's Beauty in Ware), sister Sally and husband Joseph Gula of Chicopee (Sally was also a hairdresser). sister Rose and husband Peter Rozkuszka of Ludlow, brother Stanley Rusiecki and wife Jean, brother Patrick Rusiecki and wife Melanie, brother Theodore Rusiecki and wife Carrie, brother George Rusiecki and wife Jean (who operated the Lashaway Inn, together with Victoria and John in East Brookfield).  Her surviving nieces and nephews include Carol Russell, Lori O'Shaughnessy, Douglas Russell, John Gula, Patrick Rusiecki, George Rusiecki, Barbara Tupa, Robert (Bobby) Rusiecki, and Joseph Rozkuszka.  Victoria was a parishioner of St. Mary's Church in Ware.  Family and friends will remember that Victoria attended the Ware School System, was employed for the former Hampshire Woolen Co., and Ware Woolen Mills, and Durand Sisters.  She graduated from Dorothy Wojno's Modeling Agency of Springfield.  She modeled for the former Forbes & Wallace, Steiger's, Peerless, and Springfield Bridal Shop. Victoria stood for fashion study at the Fashion Art School under the direction of Mrs. Katherine Frige of Springfield.  In 1947, Victoria was chosen May Queen at the Roger Smith Hotel, and she went on to model for the hair stylist "Mr. Leo" of Worcester, MA.  Victoria experienced that golden age of style and modeling in the 1940's, 50's and 60's.  Funeral Services for Victoria will be held on Friday, June 21, 2019 at 10:30 AM from the Cebula Funeral Home Chapel, 66 South St., Ware.  A Funeral Mass will be offered at 11 AM in St. Mary's Church, 60 South St., Ware.  Interment will take place following the funeral mass in St. Mary's Cemetery (St. Stanislaus Section) , Ware.  A Calling Period will be held Friday morning from 9 - 10:30 AM in the funeral home chapel.
