Ware- William Dennis Hyde, 79, of Ware passed away Saturday, October 3, 2020 after a period of declining health. Bill was born April 5, 1941 in Ware to the late William M. and Mary (Shea) Hyde. He lived in Gilbertville for most of his adult life before moving back to Ware 11 years ago. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many. He graduated from Ware High School and attended Nichols College for two years.
Bill leaves behind his beloved wife of 44 years, Judy (Bothwell) Hyde and his children Christine Stymiest and her husband Michael of Barre, Kathleen Gleason and her husband Shawn of Worcester, Andrew Hyde of Springfield, Patricia Smith and her husband Michael of Worcester, Parrish Hyde and his wife Frances of Whitinsville. He also leaves behind the lights of his life, his grandchildren: Shawn Murray, Shelaigh Hyde, Matthew Murray, Shivonne Hyde, Ashley Hyde, Emily Murray, and Allison Hyde. He is predeceased by his sister Mary Parker and her surviving husband George Parker of Oregon. He is survived by his siblings Susan Harryman and her husband Charles of Maryland, his sister Ruth Talbot and her husband Maurice of Maryland, and his brother Mark and his wife Patricia of Rhode Island, along with many nieces and nephews.
Throughout his life Bill held multiple jobs and retired after 30+ years as a machine operator at Kanzaki Specialty Papers. He also loved working for the Hardwick Water and Recycling Departments later in his life. He was an active member of the Sons of the American Legion and volunteered much of his time including cooking for the monthly Sunday Breakfasts and bartending. “Dollar Bill” was the life of the party, he loved to sing and dance with his wife and was known by all for his storytelling. His interests included watching sports, especially Red Sox games and golf, Andy Griffith, Elvis, gardening, and vacationing in Aruba and Martha’s Vineyard. He was an animal lover and we know he is now reunited with his favorite dog, Shep, enjoying many long walks together.
Bill will be missed by many, but most of all his wife, Judy. A Funeral Mass for Bill will be offered on Friday, October 9, 2020 at 10 AM in All Saints Church, 17 North Street, Ware. Everyone will meet directly at the church on Friday, parking lot is located on Bank Street. Calling Hours will be held on Thursday, October 8, 2020 from 6 - 8 PM in the Cebula Funeral Home Chapel, 66 South Street, Ware. Please note that masks are required, social distancing must be observed and funeral home capacity is limited due to state regulations.
